Big business from a small site

G & MB Manning have been trading from the same half-acre site since the company was formed by Marian and Geoff Manning in 1960.

This apparently small distributor offers over 3500 different items, sold 8.5 miles of fencing panels and 15.5 miles of 3-rail post & rail last year alone, sells 3500 railway sleepers annually, stocks over 500 gates at any one time, accepts delivery of about 100 tons of materials to the yard every week and will source virtually anything you care to specify.

Christine (Chris) Dennis, the Mannings' daughter and current Managing Director, attributes it to a blend of specialisation, organisation, dedication and professionalism.

Specialisation in complete fencing packages encourages contractors to treat it as a one-stop-shop where they can obtain assistance with calculation of material quantities and the occasional design idea. Help and advice is also offered to young contractors starting in business who find this deep fund of knowledge extremely useful.
